In this post, I share five things to do in Park City, Utah. I updated this post because I celebrated my 60th birthday in Park City in 2022. There are more things to do around the resort since my visit in 2020. You can learn about new places to explore.

Uber or Rental Car

I do not know if anyone else has noticed a dramatic increase in the cost of Uber. In the past, I could Uber to Midway airport for $15 without the tip. Now it costs at least $25. The City of Chicago has added surcharges for the surcharges. However, if I parked at the airport, the cost would be higher than Uber because of my late return flight. The security lines at Midway were long, but I have TSA PreCheck. The flight to Salt Lake City was packed, and other people who looked like me were also going to Utah. I rented with Thrifty. A round-trip Uber to the resort was over $60. The rental car was $76 for four days. Compare Uber, Lyft, Rental Cars, and Public Transportation to make an informed decision.

Sunrise Lodge by Hilton Grand Vacations Park City, Utah

I used 1,140 Club points to book at Sunrise and paid the $69 registration fee for three nights. The room was cozy, and the vaulted ceiling was a nice touch. I asked for the studio premier with a king bed. I also loved my view facing the pool. Why is this important? Guests swim in the outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi all year round, and I wanted to be a witness. Although my room did not have a full kitchen, there was a mini-fridge, microwave, dishware, and toaster. Sunrise is an older property, but it is well-maintained. Because guests were not allowed to self-park, the valet performed this task with a smile each time I needed my vehicle. I was impressed by the customer service at Sunrise.

#1 Include a Visit to Olympic Park on your List of 5 Things to do in Park City, Utah

5 Things To Do In Park City, UtahThe concierge suggested I take a scenic drive. There are a lot of ranches in Utah; I even saw sheep. I also noticed monogram letters in the hills. Before I headed to the resort, I stopped by Walmart to pick up water and snacks. You will need to stay hydrated due to the change in altitude. After I made it to Sunrise, I dropped off my luggage and drove to T.J.Maxx. My next stop was Olympic Park. Entry to the Museum is FREE. However, many interactive exhibits were closed during the pandemic. If you want to learn about the 2002 Winter Olympics, add this stop to your list of things to do in Park City.

#2 11 Hauz Jamaican Restaurant

Before I drove back to the resort, I stopped by 11 Hauz Authentic Jamaican Food. The staff at Hauz went beyond just taking my order. Of course, I spoke to one of the owners about the story behind the restaurant. I ordered Jerk Chicken from the Full Yuh Belly menu. The chicken was moist, the plantains were flavorful, and the serving of rice was plentiful. The meal came with a sauce and coleslaw; I enjoyed both. If you want delicious Jamaican dishes, put 11 Hauz on your list of things to do in Park City.

#3 Park City Museum and #4 Egyptian Theatre on Main Street

You cannot visit Park City without walking down Main Street. Start with the Park City Museum, take a self-guided tour of the exhibits, then walk  to the Egyptian Theatre (Sundance Film Festival). Add the museum and theatre to your list of things to do and see in Park City. Do not pay to park; free parking is available. My reservation for dinner was at 5:00PM, and I would return to Main Street to dine at Grappa. However, when I returned, I took advantage of the complimentary HGV shuttle.

#5 Dine at Grappa Italian Restaurant

If you like Italian food, add Grappa to your list of things to do in Park City. Of course, the server started with focaccia bread. It was delicious. I ordered the Lavender Blueberry Lemon Drop. When the cocktail arrived, I thought they had spilled some. It was short, but it was tasty. I ordered the Crispy Brussels Sprouts and Spaghetti Arrabiata. The spaghetti is made from scratch in-house. The dish has a slight kick, and the portion is enough to share. The dessert was the ending to a perfect meal. It was snowing when I returned, and guests were in the jacuzzi. Yes, I put on my swimsuit with a hoodie, grabbed a plushy robe from my room, and headed to the outdoor heated pool. The water was warm, and I did not feel cold, even though it was below freezing.

The HGV Update and Time to Head Home

I attended the Owner’s Update. Of course, I chose Hilton Honors points as my gift. Because I want to learn more about upgrading my status, I attend updates regularly. Rohan was professional and knowledgeable, but he appeared surprised I used my timeshare three times (Vegas, Myrtle Beach, and Park City) in 2020, especially during a pandemic. I checked the Hilton website. The room I reserved was $136 per night, and there are no resort fees. It was not snowing when I arrived in Utah, but it was snowing when I left. The drive to the airport was scary. Although I saved money renting a car, I knew I would leave the driving to the professionals if I returned.

Happy Birthday

I returned to Park City to celebrate my 60th birthday and booked the four-bedroom suite. As an owner, I did not pay $2500 for our 3-night stay. I arranged transportation with United Brothers Cab & Limo and utilized the complimentary HGV shuttle to travel around the area. Although we walked down Main Street, splashed in the outdoor heated pool, and shopped at Kimball Junction, we also patronized restaurants within walking distance of the resort. Stop by Drafts Burger Bar for a bowl of bison and beef chili, EPC at Hyatt Centric for crispy wings, or Dos Olas Cantina for a nightcap. We were in Park City during the offseason and had no problem securing a table for seven without a reservation.
