I hit the road to see the Chicago Bears play in Los Angeles, California. There are so many activities planned other than the game. You can count on a House Music Party, Day Party, Black Party, or Sneaker Ball culminating with a tailgate party. See what LA has to offer.

Flight Booked Using Points

On the Road with the Chicago BearsI used 8,684 Wanna Get Away Rapid Rewards Points to book my flight to Los Angeles. My Saturday morning flight was less expensive than booking a late flight on Friday. There is a new lane configuration at Midway. I still made it through TSA PreCheck quickly. I would land at LAX around noon after a plane change in Las Vegas. Of course, I stopped by the Centurion Lounge to eat breakfast before boarding my connecting flight. The menu included: French Toast, Quiche Loraine vegetable mix, breakfast potatoes, boiled eggs, and scrambled eggs. The Centurion Lounge Las Vegas is my favorite airport lounge.

Hotel Booked Using Points and Cash

On the Road to See the Chicago Bears PlayTrying to catch an Uber at LAX was interesting. I waited 45 minutes for Uber Pool. The fare was less expensive than Uber X. Research the area when booking your hotel and the distance to all events. The passenger in the Uber with me did not look into his accommodations. He asked the Uber driver if he could walk to the stadium. His hotel was at least eight miles from the stadium and four miles from downtown LA. I booked at  Hilton Checkers Los Angeles, four miles from the LA Memorial Coliseum. Although the room was $325.52 per night, I used 60,000 Hilton Honors points to cover one night, and Kim and I split the cost of the second night.

Roll Call and The Counter

Kim and I booked at Checkers. Lynn, Dartesha, and Belonda booked at the Westin. Renee and Sixx were at the host hotel. I did not want to book with the group that organized the Chicago Takeover because I wanted to save money on transportation and accommodations. So far, I spent $280.02: flight to LA, Uber to Midway, Uber to Hilton Checkers, and tickets to the game and Black Party. Everyone would meet up at the Black Party later. In the meantime, I took a walk around the hotel. I saw The Counter. I ordered the turkey burger and a smoke and spice margarita. Instead of fries, I ordered Brussels sprouts from the Happy Hour menu. The burger was seasoned well, and the Brussels sprouts were flavorful.

Black Party and Pip’s on La Brea

We took a quick nap and got ready for the Black Party. Instead of calling an Uber, we walked. Seating at the event was only available for those ordering bottle service. The music was great; the cocktails were overpriced. We left before midnight and stopped at one of the many food trucks lined along the streets. Sunday was game day, and we had a reservation for brunch. I made a reservation at Checkers because I wanted to hang out on the rooftop. Before we met the crew for brunch, Kim and I went to the rooftop for an impromptu photo session. If you are in LA, stop by Pip’s on La Brea. Lynn decided to celebrate our birthdays. Yes, Kim and I are Irish Twins. Of course, we ordered bottomless mimosas/sangrias, and the drinks came with an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Bears vs. Rams

After leaving Pip’s, we headed to the stadium to meet Renee and Sixx at the tailgate party. If you ever attend a Rams game, you should arrive very early. I did not read my email. The lines to get into the stadium were long. The Bears were losing, and we decided to catch public transportation back to the hotel. We followed the crowd out of the stadium. Even though we lost, we had a great time on the road in LA to see the Chicago Bears play.

Virgin Atlantic Lounge LAX

My flight was at noon, but I asked for a late check-out for Kim. I could not walk from terminal to terminal inside the airport at LAX. I made the mistake of heading straight to Terminal 1. Virgin Atlantic Lounge was in another terminal. Because of construction, I had to go through security again. Although a shuttle was available, I walked. When I finally reached the airport lounge, they closed at 10:45AM but would reopen later. Who knew? I had 35 minutes to grab my light refreshments. The individually wrapped bagels were so good that I dropped one in my purse. The individually wrapped bagels were so good that I dropped one in my purse before walking back to the terminal.

Bear DownOn the Road to See the Chicago Bears Play

My flight was uneventful, and I was home by 7:15PM. However, there was an issue with Uber. I purchased a ticket for the train and rode to Ashland, then called an Uber. I know I said this in another post, but the road games are a lot of fun. We have been to Atlanta, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, St. Louis, and Tampa Bay. I anxiously await the release of the 2020-2021 schedule to get back on the road to see the Chicago Bears play
