Is August a good time to vacation in Orlando, Florida? I took advantage of a timeshare offer. Even though I am an HGV owner, I take advantage of different timeshare presentations once a year. This year, I accepted an offer from HGV and made a reservation at the SeaWorld property.

Vacation in Orlando, Florida

In my seven years as a timeshare owner, I have stayed at all four HGV properties in Orlando: Las Palmeras, Parc Soleil, SeaWorld, and Tuscany Village. SeaWorld is my favorite. Why? Each property is unique and offers something different for the way you travel. I learned SeaWorld was voted the second most liked property in the portfolio by owners. Not only is SeaWorld kid-friendly, but it is also adult-friendly. If you have small children (grandchildren, nieces, or nephews), everyone will enjoy their stay. Believe it or not, I vacation at this property because I can relax. By the time I arrive, schools are open, and guests are mostly adults. If there are children around, most of them are not school-aged.

HGV SeaWorld

For $167.62, I reserved a king studio with a kitchenette for three nights. After I picked up my rental car, I headed straight to Publix. I purchased water, fruit for breakfast, and lunch items. Check-in was easy, and I stopped by the concierge to pick up my Grand Experiences card. I also picked up a few coupons and information about the Mall at Millenia. This property has four complimentary DVD machines. If you want to sit down and watch a movie, there is a theater across from the DVD machines. Do not forget to check the activity schedule when you arrive. I signed up for the Aqua Zumba class.

Bonefish Grill, Ford’s Garage, and The Capital Grille

I chose Bonefish Grill because it is across the street from the SeaWorld property. The sautéed spinach is now my favorite side dish. I used my AARP card for a 10% discount. Even though I did not have a discount for Ford’s Garage, I ordered a Model Tea cocktail, fried pickles, and signature burger. Capital Grille is one of my favorite restaurants. I plan to dine at a Capital Grille wherever I travel. So far, I have been to locations in Miami, Vegas, Phoenix, Atlanta, and now Orlando. The quality of food and customer service is consistent no matter where I dine. The calamari is shareable, and I needed a box for my lamb chops.

Orlando Premium Outlets and the Mall at Millenia

When I travel to Orlando, Florida, you can bet I will stop by Orlando Premium Outlets. However, I was disappointed to see Godiva had closed. I love dark chocolate. Although I did not find any deals on one side of the mall, I drove to the other side. I found deals at Ugg and Banana Republic. I also discovered Ford’s Garage. Because I read the information about the Mall at Millenia, I redeemed an offer at the information desk to pick up a free tote bag. There were coupons in the bag for stores in the mall, including one for $10.00 off at Capital Grille. I will say this once again. Stop by the visitors center, concierge, or information desk wherever you travel. Oh, I also stopped by Nordstrom Rack.

Orlando, Florida in August

How is the weather? It rained while I was picking up the rental car. Although I was in Orlando for four days, I managed to hang out by the pool between my trips to the mall and the rain. I also sat on my enclosed balcony when it rained. If you are looking for tourist attractions, the shuttle on the property will take you to SeaWorld and other attractions. Check with the concierge. Do not look at the weather report until you reach Orlando, and plan your activities around the rain. My flight was delayed because of Tropical Storm Fred. I headed to the MCO Lounge courtesy of Priority Pass. Because I have visited this lounge during breakfast hours, I knew options were limited. 

The Budget for Orlando, Florida

Now, I was able to change my flight because of the impending tropical storm. I booked a later flight to Orlando for an additional $3.00. I also changed my flight to Chicago and saved $39.00. If you find a lower fare with Southwest, you will receive a travel fund credit when you rebook the flight. I had 12 flights booked, and I saved money by checking the price of every flight weekly. Rebooking flights at a lower fare allows me to plan more trips by applying the travel funds I collect. Finally, I am not selling timeshares. You can book the SeaWorld property on the Hilton website.
