Have you thought about attending road games with the Chicago Bears? I look forward to the release of the Bears schedule to put a preseason, home, or away game on my calendar. Although it would be great to score tickets to a home game, I can also hit the road.
When I learned family and friends were hitting the road for a game, I changed my flight and paid $121.00 to fly to Indianapolis. I then redeemed Southwest Rapid Rewards points for the return flight to Chicago. I used World of Hyatt points for one night at Hyatt Place Indianapolis Airport and charged the second night. Because I had a connecting flight from Fort Lauderdale, it was late when I arrived in Indianapolis. I quickly walked to the shuttle area and boarded the free Hyatt shuttle. The next day I enjoyed my complimentary breakfast and left the hotel around 2:00PM. I took an Uber to Dick’s Bodacious Bar-B-Q Downtown before joining my family and friends. Although the ride downtown was uneventful, the driver warned me about the return trip.
Before placing my order, I sampled a few items on the menu. Then I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, ribs, and a beer. The meal was worth $22.00; the customer service was excellent. As I update this post, the restaurant is permanently closed. The stadium was less than a mile away. There was a motorcycle convention in the area, and I would not have been able to find an Uber to the stadium. I walked to the tailgate party. As usual, the pregame shenanigans were great. The Bears were losing, so I decided to catch an Uber back to the hotel. The driver took 30 minutes to connect to me. The traffic pattern to leave Lucas Oil Stadium was unbelievable. I walked to my Uber driver, and she followed the traffic pattern out of the downtown area. Bears win 27-17.
Even though the Uber driver was overwhelmed, she was professional. She gave an impromptu tour of the area as we headed to the hotel. I saw Ooey Pooey or Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. When I got to my room, I was disappointed. No housekeeping. I mentioned this in the customer service survey I completed. I learned housekeeping skipped my room because they said I had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door until 4:00PM. However, I removed the Do Not Disturb sign when I left for the Bears game. I provided my timeline using my Uber and Dick’s Bodacious Bar-B-Q receipts. I also tweeted other concerns like the wrapper on the tissue and the dirty curtain. The manager acknowledged my concerns by reversing the points I used for my stay. No, I did not let this incident ruin my trip.
I look forward to attending my next Bears road game. See you in LA.
