In 2020 I discovered a 2-Day promotion for the Southwest Companion Pass. When I saw the advertisement in 2021, I posted it to my social media accounts. Even though the window to travel is only January through February, the timeframe works for me because there is a holiday each month.

So what is the promotion, and why should you register? In September, Southwest has a promotion to earn a companion pass. Save the date now. You need to sign up if you are not a Rapid Rewards member. Then register for the promotion. Book a trip before the deadline. Finally, take the trip you booked. If you follow the steps, you will receive an email confirmation about your Southwest Companion Pass for trips scheduled from January through February. After I added the promotion to Facebook and Instagram, I reached out to family and friends to encourage them to register.

First Annual Oktoberfest in Dallas, Texas

Renee wanted to visit her sister and found a fare on Southwest for $49 each way to Dallas. We would fly in Saturday morning and fly out early Sunday morning. It just so happens the Dallas trip would qualify as the flight for the Southwest Companion Pass. We landed at 11:30AM and headed to The Exchange Food Hall. Although we found valet parking closer to the food hall, Sixx drove to one of the public parking lots nearby. The First Annual Oktoberfest premiered on the plaza. Before I talk about food, I have to acknowledge the music selection. There was a live DJ on the plaza, and he played music to everyone’s liking. He went through all genres, and the crowd was either dancing or singing to every song. The acoustics were unbelievable.

A security guard provided us with an overview of the restaurants and shared his personal favorites. Some options included tacos and seafood. When I saw the lobster grilled cheese sandwich on the menu at The Dock, I decided quickly. The meal consisted of sourdough bread, Sriracha, lobster, crab queso, gouda, Dockside pickles, and House “Crab” chips. Renee and Sixx ordered seafood tacos. We enjoyed our meal seated at the Double Tap facing the plaza. If Oktoberfest is over, you will find other events on the plaza. Whenever you travel to Dallas, stop by the Exchange.

The Budget and Southwest Companion Pass

No hotel for this trip. However, we enjoyed the swimming pool in Sixx’s complex. It was hot in Dallas. This visit was quick, and it was nice to spend time in someone’s home. It was also nice to save a few dollars on a hotel reservation and transportation to and from the airport. What about the companion pass? Southwest sent an email on October 4, 2021.
