Welcome to Savannah, Georgia. When I came across information about The Grey, I added the restaurant to my list of places to visit. Of course, I will walk around to visit historical sites. Pick up a map. Do not forget to bring a pair of comfortable shoes for your stay.
For transportation to the hotel, I used Lyft. When I checked my Delta account, I noticed an offer for $10.00 off two rides if I connected my accounts. You know what I did. I saved $20.00 on my ride to and from the airport in Savannah, and I earned Delta SkyMiles. Check your airline partners for promotions. When I saw a Hyatt brand within a 10-minute walk of The Grey, I booked. I could have also booked at Hyatt Place or Hyatt Regency and used rideshare to get around. When I looked up reservations, only two spots were open. I grabbed the 9:45PM reservation, giving myself more than enough time to walk to The Grey.
The Andaz is in a great location. The front desk clerk acknowledged my Discoverist status. My room was on the 6th floor, and I had a balcony. I received a chocolate treat from a local vendor and a choice of beers from one of the local breweries as my welcome gift. Finally, the clerk asked if I wanted a 2:00PM check out. The 22 Square Lounge and restaurant are on the main level. While I checked in, a live band played near the lounge. The pool is on the 2nd floor. I headed to my room to relax before my reservation at The Grey. By the way, this property is dog-friendly.
If you are ever in Savannah, Georgia, you have to dine at The Grey. I dine out frequently, and this was a great experience. Taylor was professional and patiently guided me through the menu: dirt, water, and pasture. I ate everything on each plate. My starter was fruit and cheese, followed by a plate of veggies. If I closed my eyes and tasted the veggies, I swear I was eating meat. I am a fan of duck confit. Of course, I had room for dessert. Although I tried the three-course meal, I will be back to try the Chef’s Tasting. Expand your palate and add The Grey to your list of restaurants to try. Welcome to Savannah, Georgia.
I stopped by the front desk because I wanted suggestions for a self-guided walking tour. The front desk clerk pulled out a map and outlined a route. There is a lot of history in Savannah. As an educator in Chicago, I discovered a monument honoring Casimir Pulaski in Monterey Square. My school district used to celebrate Pulaski Day. I walked down Jones Street. Did you know Jones Street is one of the most charming streets in America? Of course, the front desk clerk mentioned keeping up with the Joneses originated in Savannah. I also walked past Forsyth Park Fountain. I missed the First African Baptist Church. Take a walk when you travel. You may learn something. Click on the link to read more facts about Savannah.
When I walked by the Realm, the cook waved at me to stop. I quickly looked up the reviews. There is a location in Atlanta too. When I was in New York, I wanted a Cuban sandwich. Yes, I ordered a Cuban sandwich, salad, and a beer-mosa. The sandwich was huge, and I needed to box half to take with me. By the way, the sandwich was just as good in the morning. Later that day, I hung out at 22 Square Lounge. You will enjoy the Irish Coffee Old Fashioned. A guest asked what I was drinking and suggested I try the pistachio martini. I also tried the candied bacon. Although I enjoyed my stay, I will not make another reservation at the Andaz when I return to Savannah. However, I will make my way back to the lounge. I forgot to check the rates before arriving at the hotel. Of course, the rates went down. I was concerned about another reservation and forgot to check the Andaz. Sometimes, I do too much. However, the supervisor was flexible, and I am grateful she accommodated my request for the lower rate for at least one night. You know I reached out to customer service and the Concierge on Twitter. Are you planning a trip to Savannah, Georgia? Make sure you take a long walk.
