In this post, I share what to expect if you travel during the pandemic. I put on a mask, called an Uber, and grabbed my suitcase. After I passed through security, I immediately washed my hands. I only saw one person without a mask or face covering at Midway airport. Southwest started the boarding process in groups of 10. The middle seats remained empty, but if you were traveling with family, you were allowed to sit together. I pulled out a Clorox wipe and cleaned my area: the seat, seat belt, armrests, tray table, window shade, and overhead knobs. If you need to buy wipes before your next trip, click on the link below. I was surprised Southwest had a snack service, a small bag of snack mix, and water. You will not be able to enjoy an alcoholic beverage on your flight.

Uber

Here is what to expect if you travel during the pandemic and need an Uber. Your experience may be different depending on where you land. It took 10 minutes to connect to a driver, and I waited 15 minutes for him to arrive at the airport. He shared most of the Uber drivers in Las Vegas were eligible to collect unemployment during the pandemic. Demand was high, but availability low. It was good to know wait times could vary for my return trip to the airport, but I could always take a taxi.

What to Expect if you Travel During the PandemicAccommodations at Hilton Grand Vacations and Hilton CleanStay

Although rooms were available at my Hilton Grand Vacations home property, I booked a one-bedroom at the Flamingo. All employees wore masks. I checked in and made my way to the 8th floor. Hand sanitizer stations were available throughout the lobby and near the elevators. When I found my room, I was surprised to see the door sealed. The dishware remained in the dishwasher, and there were individual packets of hand sanitizer on the counter in the bathroom. I found pool towels in a drawer. I wiped down everything in my room: door handles, tv remotes, light switches, and the rods to pull back the curtains.

Final Note on What to Expect if you Travel During the Pandemic

Overall, I feel the travel industry is trying to welcome us back to a cleaner environment. Be prepared to bring masks and wipes if you are planning to travel. Some establishments had face coverings available at the entrance. Other places would not allow customers to enter without one. I received my negative COVID-19 test results before I left Chicago. While writing this post, I saw a news story on safety precautions during the pandemic. I realized I never wiped down the handle on the toilet. You will not forget after reading this post.
